This project aims to enhance the spelling skills of university students. It has been found that students have difficulty spelling accurately and this affects their performance, both in the academic setting and possibly in their future careers as well. This project will benefit UCL students, and university students in general, by identifying the common spelling mistakes committed by them. The study also aims to raise awareness of this challenge which affects all speakers of the language, both native and non-native. This research will be supported by feedback from current academic staff on the typical issues that arise in students’ academic writing.
